Workout on a Fitness Stepper at Home to Get in Shape

Considered one of the many stair steppers for keeping fit and in shape? These machines are great for toning, as well as burning fat calories.

They are easily stored out of site, when not in use and do not take up too much space when you are working out. And you can use certain types of stepper (not the big gym type ones) almost anywhere, from your home in any tight space to your workplace.

These wonderful fitness machines have digital displays, which show your heart rate, calories burned, distance and workout time. Some types of stepper even note the number of steps you have climbed - all the information you need to know as you're exercising.

With the twist steppers, you have support handles to grip so you take the pressure off your joints. With safety in mind, you are then able to really work deep into your leg muscles with this kind of stepper and really hit those stubborn buttock and inner thigh muscles.

Almost all types of steppers ensure non-slip safety. Because of stabilizing bars (higher priced models) and non-slip foot pads (made from rubber). You are then free to workout and burn the calories, with peace of mind you won't slid to the other side of the floor!

With some steppers, you are able to use resistance bands which are securely fastened to the machine. This innovative addition provides an all over body workout, when combined with the stepping motion.

So while you are stepping, you can also work your biceps, shoulders, chest and back muscles. Getting one with these resistance bands is a great idea, if you prefer the stepper to say a treadmill, where all you can really do is jog or run.

As well as burning the flab, steppers also increase your heart rate, which in turn increases your blood circulation. And by increasing your circulation, you are less likely to experience a heart related disease, particularly if you are over 40.

But if you have bad knees, don't forget that stepping puts pressure on your knees and if you already have problems, you must choose the type of stepper you buy - wisely.

You would preferably need one with sound hydraulic and tension system mechanics, to add a 'bouncing' sensation to the step. But this may mean spending a little more on the right unit.
