These gas heater can be further divided into two types vented and ventless. The ventless model use air form the room and the other vented model uses air directly out from the workshop. The main disadvantage of having ventless heater is you need to keep your room vented all the time as it uses room air. The main advantage of having gas heater doesn't matter having it with manual or auto thermostat is that it runs on low cost fuel "Gas" as compare to other heater which runs on other sources like electricity and kerosene.
Each type of heater has its own advantages and disadvantage so it better to take an expert option in this regard.
