World Of Warcraft Tips: Making Money From Leatherworking

Leatherworking allows players of the World Of Warcraft game to craft leather items

, bags and enhancements for armour from leathers and scales obtained through skinning. Apart from providing the player with unique leatherworker only items, you can also make money in WoW with Leatherworking, usually by pairing it with Skinning for cheaper reagents.

To make the most of leatherworking as a money source, you will need to be at least level 60 and specialized on one of the three leatherworking specializations, Dragonscale for mail items, elemental for leather caster items or tribal, for items oriented towards melee and physical ranged stats.

RECOMMENDED ADDONS - Auctioneer suite: This addon gives you a statistical view over time on how the prices and moving rates of items are evolving in the Auction House. - LilSparky's Workshop and Skillet: Those two addons work as a replacement for the trade-skill window, allowing you you to queue items to be crafted, and, combined with Auctioneer, seeing crafting costs and estimated sale value on the Auction House.

FINDING YOUR MARKET NICHE Based on your market knowledge, experience and keeping an eye on upcoming changes to the game, you can check the Auction House for which items are selling at a better value and what's your profit margin on each of them. To test your theory, and before starting mass production of any item, list a few items of each and write down how they perform. Sometimes an item seems to have a very high selling price, but nobody actually bought it!

Enhancement items for armour are usually a safe bet in most servers, since players need more as they replace their gear. Same goes for speciality bags, and epic leatherworking recipes or those that require previous work raising a reputation to obtain them.

PRICING MECHANICS To decide on a price for your items you need to factor in the cost of the reagents (or how much your time spent gathering is worth), the chances that an item is sold and for what price it usually goes. Items with a high reagent costs and high returns might be better crafted on demand instead of listed in the Auction House, since the Auction House will take a 5% fee whether is sold or not. When you see reagents selling for lower than your costs price, buy them, and list the crafted items when the prices are high. It's worth diversifying and having a pool of different items to craft to be more resistant to market changes.

Leatherworking, while not the best moneymaker in World of Warcraft, can give good benefits along with the unique enhancements it provides for the character. The deal is finding a good market niche that you can make a profit from, without having to decide every time what you are crafting. This will allow you to stock on cheap reagents and be more independent from Auction House prices fluctuations. It's also worth considering crafting low level green quality items, and then getting an enchanter to disenchant them for dusts and essences that can be sold for a higher price on the Auction House.
