The winner of this Seven Card Stud tournament was none other than Andrew Friedman. Andrew can best be traced back to his bittersweet defeat in the 2005 Main event, where he was eliminated in 43rd place. Friedman was convinced that he had played terribly in the final stages of that tournament, and could have finished even higher.
His loss in that tournament hit him hard, but this year he bounced back with an incredible win that saw him knocking out poker legends such as Phil Hellmuth. His victory came with an impressive 3 hour heads up match in which he went in 2:1 down against 2nd place finisher Todd Brunson. But after clawing it back, on his final hand Brunson pushed all in with a pair of 10s but fell to Friedmans concealed Js on First and Second Street. Commiserations to second place finisher Brunson who would feel disappointed but could rejoice in the second place prize fund of $166,269. Friedman can now forget his disappointing 2005 main event and take home his first WSOP gold bracelet and the first place prize fund of $269,037

Winning a gold bracelet is an accomplishment in itself, but for some poker pros 1 is simply not enough. Before this event only 54 players had ever won 3 or more gold bracelets, after this event, we have member 55 to that elite clubbut thats not all.
Matt Matros is number 55, after winning this 6 handed no limit tournament to the tune of $454,835. Matros has not only won 3 gold bracelets, he has won a gold bracelet 3 years in a row. His consecutive wins have placed him in an even more exclusive club. Now only 6 players in history have ever won a gold bracelet 3 years in a row.
His win came through a turnaround on the final table, he was against Mark Radoja who had a chip lead early on, but after Matros clawing it back, he shoved all in on the turn. Radoja quickly called and held a straight, but destiny was not on his side as Matros stole the hand by hitting the flush on the river and taking home gold. Radoja leaves in second place with a prize fund of $281,502.
