World Series of Poker: Its Charitable Side

World Series of Poker (WSOP) becomes one of the biggest tournaments

, which is a way for casino games to be played with the purpose of helping needy people through organizations, that we may simply called as charitable institutions. Recently, the tournament in Vegas was joined by many poker professionals from around the world and competes for personal fame and fortune. And it becomes the face of poker that attracts the most attention.

While I already mentioned the significance of the game played in every table, it was poker which becomes popular and made each WSOP events to be a successful one. This creates the other side of the game to be the most significant part: its charitable component where the games are held to raise funds for worthy causes.

Since 2007, the WSOP has been organizing a tournament aiming to raise money and create awareness for the victims of humanitarian crises, like in Darfur region of western Sudan in Africa, in which the tourney will simply be called as the "Ante Up for Africa". This event raised an amount of almost $4-million and includes over $275,000 from this year's tournament alone. The event which was held last July attracted significant participation from celebrities, namely Shannon Elizabeth, Matt Damon, Montel Williams and Brad Garrett.

Also this year, a non profit organization which has been dedicated to the greening and beautification of Chicago, namely Chicago Gateway Green, will be holding its Fifth Annual Texas Holdem "Gaming for Green" charity tournament on Thursday, August 5, at Galleria Marchetti, 825 W. Erie Street in Chicago. Presented by Horseshoe Casino Hammond.

Expected players buy in for a $150 donation which will give them a $5,000 in tournament chips. Those who do not want to enter the poker tournament will have to pay for $40 spectator admission for them to have the opportunity to play in other games of chance, including craps, blackjack and roulette. This admission fee also includes and appetizer buffet with an open bar for soft drinks, beer, wine, and premium spirits.

They will be having an access also to the outdoor patio lounge to be able to enjoy the Marchetti garden setting and other amenities including a premium cigar by General Cigar, a martini bar, and live musical entertainment throughout the evening.

Both spectators and poker players will also have a chance to earn prizes while playing their favorite casino games. $5,000 will be the grand prize for the poker tournament and this gives a chance to have a buy-in into the World Series of Poker Circuit Event coming up later this year at Horseshoe.

World Series of Poker (WSOP) is truly a powerful event that gives chances to many poker player to joined in and be able to experience the real excitement of gaming. Not only these, but also it gives chances to many poker participants to become a way to help other people through playing different casino games.
