Many will have noticed how the World snooker Champion
, John Higgins of Scotland has been playing recently having got the final of the last snooker tournament by playing some classy snooker. The Masters however does contain many surprises and Wednesday evening was just that. Playing against the World number 11 Mark Allen one would have thought that Higgins had enough experience to take the game relatively easily and move into the semi finals. Allen had other ideas however and quickly took a 3-1 lead heading into the break. At a guess one may have thought the break may done some good to Higgins who looked keen and raring to go at the start of the tournament but it was not to be. Whilst Higgins grabben the 5th frame to make it 3-2, Allen came back with the biggest break of the match to take a 4-2 lead and ultimately send Higgins on his way home. Higgins had one more frame left in the locker and proved this to bring the scores to 4-3 but mistakes were creeping in on Higgins' gameand he was unable to stop Allen take advantage of the lapses as he grabbed the last two frames to win the match 6-4. The best bookmakers now have Allen at 11/8 to make the final whilst Ronnie O'Sullivan who plays Peter Ebdon on Thursday afternoon is 6/1 on to make yet another Masters final. Mark Williams is second favourite for the final at odds of 2/1 to beat Shaun Murphy, the player that so surprisingly knocked Stephen Hendry out earlier in the competition.
