World Stupidity Award As A Special Type Of Us Prizes

World Stupidity Award was instituted in 2003 by the filmmaker Albert Nerenberg

. Just for Laughs, which sponsors this award is the largest comedy festival in the world.

Nick Flynn received the Stupidity Award for Making a Stupid Situation Stupider. Visiting a museum he smashed three antique Chinese vases. Instead of making excuses Flynn criticized museum administration for negligence with displays.

Stupidest and, may be, the saddest Trend of the Year 2006 was the trend to kill people for Gods sake.

Television, George W. Bush and the Award

A special category was created in George W. Bushs honor. It is called a Stupidest Statement by President George W. Bush; also he is considered a perennial laureate of the award. The former president was rewarded with such awards as Disinformation Stupidity Award for Being Most out of Touch with Reality (2006), Stupidity Award for Reckless Endangerment of the Planet (2007), and others.

Even Television was rewarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Stupidity, because during its development it makes nothing in order to improve and educate humanity and everything in order to turn people to dolts.

Why was it instituted?

There are a lot of sadness and criticism in awards nominations and it makes people think. So why do people institute such prizes?

First of all, they fight against glaring ignorance, which flourishes sometimes since school years. People do not know some elementary facts but pretend to know everything around the subject. Sometimes they are mighty and influential, and it may lead to various accidents and make harm to other. So, this award judges humans unwillingness to think and narrow mind.

Secondly it accentuates the necessity of some minimal extend of knowledge. That is why school education is obligatory, and university/college study is so desirable.

Thirdly, it reminds about humans dignity. One should not make him/her cheap. People are to support and help each other in order to develop further.
