World of Warcraft Raiding Secrets
World of Warcraft is a fun game, and one of the funnest aspects of the game is, of course, raiding. Yet too few take the effort to truly master this fundamental aspect of the game. Though the gear needed for raiding can be obtained upon reaching level 80, too few are aware of the proper progression required to get the gear, then get into the raiding scene. Too, many players, upon reaching that level, attempt to use a pickup group to blunder their way through the instances, never getting to a higher level of difficulty than 10 man raids, because they neglected to join a guild.
While there are many critical elements to killer raiding, the most important is proper preparation; this is from the most highly ranked guilds in the country. So it's really no surprise that many players spend hours, weeks and months in preparation, attempting to make sure that every member in their group are up-to-speed on all aspects of raiding before embarking on one of the more challenging instances or taking down one of the bigger bosses.
Getting together with your guild members and talking over the basics of the raid is a good first step. You'll want to familiarize yourself with the raid you are embarking on, determine who will actually lead your group, working it all in with the way your guild operates, and figuring out logistics, such as how your group members will talk to one another during the raid itself.
Determining who the leader of the raid is going to be is a good initial task in preparing for the raid. While the obvious choice would be the guild leader, this isn't necessarily the best choice, as guild leaders have a lot of other responsibilities as well. The raid leader needs to be someone who can effectively plan and prepare the group for the raid, to include recruiting, obtaining materials and supplies, and finessing the strategy to be employed for the raid at hand.
A good raiding party leader will be a person with a high-level grasp of how World of Warcraft works, and be able to assign player classes to the best possible roles within the raiding party. He or she should have expert level knowledge on the instance about to be played, to include layout, gear requirements and drop expectations, as well as having a plan on dividing the loot. They should also be able to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each class, be able to play several of them well, and be able to fit a group of several classes into a cohesive team.
Warcraft raiding party leader need a number of other attributes to succeed. The most important is to be a social person, able to get along well with others, rather than being an introverted, loner type. No matter how good a player a person may be, he will be a horrible leader if he can't get along well with other players. A good raid leader should also be a person who can accept responsibility when things go wrong, instead of trying to assign blame.
In a lot of guilds, there will be more than one person selected as the raiding party leader, so if you have a favorite, but he or she can't play when you can, you need to be able to make accommodations and be willing to work with and support whoever your raiding party may actually end up being.
