Prof. R.K. Mishra has the distinction of being first Asian who is honoured as Professor

of Minimal Access Surgery by legislated University of Govt. of India.

He has also the distinction of being first University qualified master minimal access surgeon of India. He was topper of university of Dundee United Kingdom and graduated with honors

with British Medical Association Award and Lord Ashdown Award. After his postgraduate training in surgery in year 2000 he came to the United Kingdom

and established his academic laparoscopic surgical career in Ninewells Hospital and Medical School with Professor Alfred Cuschieri in Scotland and the University of Dundee.


He was in Department of Surgery and Molecular Oncology at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School in Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom. He did his Masters degree in

Minimal Access Surgery (M.MAS) from United Kingdom. His training in Minimal access surgery was further refreshed in europe and United state of America. After returning to

India he worked at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital. Currently, he is Director and Chief Laparoscopic Surgeon at World Laparoscopy Hospital, Gurgaon, NCR Delhi. In 2007 he became

head and professor of Minimal Access Surgery at the TGO University in India and holds honorary professorship at several European and Asian Universities. He has trained 3000 surgeon,

Gynecologists, Urologists and Pediatric Surgeons from 108 countries of the World. Laparoscopic Courses directed by Prof. Mishra meet the guidelines established in the "SAGES Framework

for Post-Residency Surgical Education and Training" and are endorsed by the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

During the meeting with Honorable Mr. Harish Rawat Union Minister of Labor and Employment Government of India this decision was taken. Minister was the chief guest during the convocation of

120th batch of World Laparoscopy Hospital. Function was organized at India Habitat Center, New Delhi.

World Laparoscopy Hospital is the first hospital in the whole World who has taken decision to perform all the laparoscopic surgery for poor people completely free of cost. Only the cost of

medicine will be taken from the patient. World Laparoscopy Hospital is at present, 50 bed hospital with all facilities. Because this hospital is only dedicated for laparoscopic surgery and the

patient need to stay in hospital only for one day so even this 50 bed only for laparoscopy is biggest bed strength dedicated for laparoscopy by any hospital in Asia.

We are being treated with laparoscopy by the doctors here. It is being done free. In other hospitals treatment costs rupees 40,000. They ask for 3,500 rupees only for medicine. I could not work

on my daily ways laborious job and hard work due to gallbladder stone earlier but now I can do said Pritpal Singh, Patient.

the hospital in which the treatment is being received by World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons. Number of applications received and no. of patients to whom dree surgery have been provided
