Would You Like A Crystal Ball?
Brian McGuinn of Margate, Florida accidentally threw out his wife's ring when he
threw out his disposable razor - his wife's 1.5 carat diamond engagement ring worth $10,000. When he and his wife Anna realized what happened, the garbage had been collected. However, an hour after a tearful Anna called the waste management company Brian was suited up. The workers had identified the garbage from the McGuinn's collection route, but Brian still had to search through 9 tons of garbage in a 10-foot-high pile. Yes, he found the ring; but even with a razor he'd never had such a "close shave".
Christy Lawrence and her husband live in St. Augustine, Florida with their dog Tuity. The couple was saving to pay off Christy's car. Whenever they saved $1,000 they put it in the bank. In fact $1,000 was in an envelope on the counter. However, when Christy's husband came home for lunch, pieces of $100 bills were on the floor. The rest were in Tuity's stomach. After inducing the dog to vomit by feeding her hydrogen peroxide, the couple was able to piece together $900; but the last $100 bill had too many serial numbers missing when Tuity "cashed out".
A 46-year-old Utah man (man #1) went duck hunting with a friend and the friend's dog. The men stopped their boat in a marshy area to retrieve a duck they had shot. Shortly after man #1 stepped into the shallow water he was shot in the buttocks. It seems the dog jumped into the boat, causing the loaded 12-gauge shotgun left on the boat's bow by man #1 to fire. Man #1 was taken to a nearby hospital where 27 shotgun pellets were removed. Although he was released a short time later, I imagine it was quite awhile before man #1 again felt "ducky".
A man in Richland, Washington took an unexpected ride. It seems the forklift operator didn't realize the porta-potty was occupied when he picked it up and moved it 15 feet across a gravel road. Fortunately, the screams from the man inside were heard; and he was let out before being injured. When a spokesperson for the project where the incident occurred was interviewed, he said it was a reminder for workers to follow procedures and double-check the portable toilets. Although the victim was not interviewed about what happened, we can assume he didn't "take it sitting down".
