They were formed by the Katherine river carving out the sandstone which is present in the area. There are a few different recreational opportunities that can occur such as flying over the park, taking a cruise, or even a canoe ride. The centre which is located at the Nitmiluk National Park is a great beginning location to decide how to plan your vacation and capture all the different sites.

Horse lovers will want to make a trip to Mount Bundy which has station horse tours offered to visitors. These are fascinating experiences that cater to individuals who have all sorts of experience levels all the way from beginners to the most advanced riders. Not only are the experiences tailored to different skill levels but the landscape is absolutely breath taking to see. The people who hold the tours are well versed and great to be around while you travel through and see the view and all the opportunities to take amazing photographs. There are even opportunities to photograph wildlife that can be seen as you travel along the trails.
