The Bad

In order to lessen the blow of bad news, many writers will start off with good news. Starting with good only leads to bad. I would rather start with something negative and then wrap it all up with something positive.

I got my xbox on November 5th so i have had almost a month to test the system and controls out. Everything was good at first.The technology that was put into this console was amazing.The more I played it the more I noticed things that may have changed my mind on initially purchasing it. At the least I could have been forewarend about the technical issues or requirements for the xbox kinect.

The first and perhaps most annoying issue was the space required to be able to play. In order for the sensor to detect you properly, you need a 6x6 area to play in. If you live in an apartment or a townhouse this is a big deal. If you have a larger home than you don't need to worry. In order to play I have to push my couch, chairs and coffee table out of the room. After the first time this gets really annoying.

The second thing that I have noticed is the games are more demos than full games. Your Xbox Kinectwill come with one game which is 'Kinect Adventures.' You look for new adventures all around the world. The problem with this game is there are only five adventures for you to participate in. Don't get me wrong, this is an extremely fun game but it is lacking on actual Adventures.

Kinectimals was the second game that I bought and played. This game allows you to have a wild animal as a pet. You can choose from a few different animals, my son chose the tiger. You can teach your new cub tricks through voice commands and run him through an obstacle course. TYou can unlock more animals as you go but this only keeps their attention for so long.

The placement of the xbox kinect was also a very big inconvenience.If you have a huge entertainment center and shelves already setup than you won't have a problem with this. I am not one of the lucky few though. The kinect will have issues tracking you if you place it on the floor or on top of the tv. I had to go out and buy a shelf for my kinect to sit on.

The Good

If none of those issues bother you at all than you will only find good things with this system. The Xbox Kinect is an amazing system. This system will be really incredible once it is further along in its development.This technology will soon take over our entertainment industry.

The development and advancement of new games will only continue with the xbox kinect.I don't know if they will ever enter the world of a first person shooter but at the same time this system is not targeted at the hard core gamer. It is more for families and kids. I do enjoy playing with my son but I also enjoy jumping online and playing some halo.
