It is factual that a lot of people start to feel as though the intimacy in their relationship starts to slide over time
. This is in fact a normal progression that happens to all relationships and it is really not be something to agonize about. It can be mistaken for the relationship failing but this is not essentially the case. All relationships go through a stage that can make you feel your more like roommates and to help defeat any problems you might try using some self help techniques to pick things up again.
1. Learn to appreciate the positive things about your partner. We can start to see the negatives or those things that can annoy us. If we spent more time looking at the positive things that attracted us to them in the first place we would begin to appreciate them for who they are.
2. Learn to communicate better. If you and your partner carried on more small talk when together, the chance of arguments will be diminished. This does not mean you must share each others day in detail, just share and listen to your partner's stories and experiences. Ask them questions and respond positively with them.
3. You may have to relearn to make eye contact the way you did when you first met. As time goes by and you get more comfortable together, couples will tend to look at their partner but not directly make eye contact. Making eye contact is a positive way to rebuild the intimacy with you partner and should be something you should start working on.
