As such, not only do individuals receive clean drinking water but affordable footwear. However, such funds also provide water purification and treatment systems, well drilling rigs and a variety of other services to communities in need.
So, if you are going to host such a charity drive or event, how do you get the word out? With technology today, you may want to set up a website regarding such events. However, you may also want to list notifications of such benefits or charity drives on any and all social networking websites and in any and all local calenders whether online or off. For, only when individuals know of such events, can one achieve success when hosting or running one.
In addition, while this particular shoe project started out solo, eventually the charity partnered with another firm who sees that supplies generated are delivered to those in need. As such, the shoes collected help many individuals in need of both affordable footwear and clean water. So, while at times challenging, the partnership continues to be a success with many business, churches, schools and special events donating shoes throughout the year.
Of course, if you are going to work in third-world countries, you are going to need training in order to do so. As such, the delivery partner provides ongoing training on a variety of topics related to clean water. This training, includes but is not limited to, water treatment, health issues, pump repair and sanitation. After which individuals are more knowledgeable when working with others in third-world countries to deliver such services.
While these organizations have been successful in gaining 501C3 status, it is not always easy to do so. For you must have a clear vision of the organization, its policies, principals and guidelines in order to obtain such tax-free classification. In addition you must also prove that such organization is operating on a not-for-profit basis and that no monies received will be used for anything other than overhead and program costs.
Therefore, although the example here is related to a shoe drive, often you can host a benefit or charity drive related to a number of items which can be donated, recycled or resold. However, by discovering how to run a charity shoe drive, you can also learn a great deal about how to be successful with others. Last but not least, you need hold a 501C3 status, or partner with someone who does, which shows that you are operating on a not-for-profit basis. Otherwise, you may be taxed on any and all monies received when hosting such an event.
