You Can Straighten Without Flat Iron

Having silky straight hair may seem not possible without a flat iron

. Fortunately, using other methods, taming a head of curls is possible. It is a simple process to straighten your curly hair with a flat iron. But there are a number of reasons why someone may prefer not to use one. A person who does not own a flat iron may not want to invest in one for infrequent use. A flat iron works at high heat, and someone with color treated or else simply damaged hair may elect a gentler alternative.

Steps

1. The key to silky smooth hair begins in the shower. Wash and condition hair. Curly hair normally has a more coarse texture than straight hair. Focus on the scalp when washing the hair. Before rinsing wash the ends quickly and gently. Apply a conditioner from the ends up and work systematically through the hair. Quickly rinse with cool water to allow some of the conditioner to remain behind.

2. Remember to take away as much moisture as possible and squeeze the hair dry. Twisting or rubbing it in a towel will support frizz. Squeezing as much moisture out of the hair as possible lessens the process of drying. You will have to use both hands the whole time that you are blow drying your hair. So shortening the length of time it takes to blow dry makes the procedure easier.

3. With a large paddle brush blow dry hair. Apply the brush to pull your hair straight one part at a time. Start at the roots and work your way to the tip, pulling gently on the hair to hold it straight. Grip the hair dryer overhead and direct the heat down the hair shaft. This will help keep the hair smooth. Move to the next section when one segment is dry.

4. Finish the process with styling products. After your complete head of hair is dry, apply some styling products to finish your look. Pomade or styling cream create separation and prevents your hair from taking on the look of a helmet. A light mist of hairspray will help out your hair hold style without weighing it down.
