You Cannot Install Microsoft Windows Xp On A Dynamic Disk
In Microsoft Windows XP and later versions, you can create Dynamic Disks to get benefit
of extended features and functionality, which are not supported by basic disks. They provide support for striped volumes, spanned volumes, and mirrored volumes. It is quite simple to manage the dynamic volumes, as compared to the basic volumes. However, you cannot install Microsoft Windows XP on a dynamic volume. Before you install the operating system, you must delete the dynamic partition, which eventually leads to severe partition loss. In such circumstances, you need to go for partition recovery software to retrieve lost partitions.
In a practical scenario, you may receive the underwritten error when you try to install Microsoft Windows XP on dynamic disk:
Windows XP cannot recognize the partition you selected.
Setup cannot install Windows XP on this partition. However, you can go back to the previous screen, delete the partition. and then select the resulting unpartitioned space.
Setup will then create a new partition on which you can install Windows XP.
You may also encounter this problem if the drive is damaged, unrecognizable, or corrupted. After this behavior, the installation process gets terminated and the partition becomes inaccessible.
Root of the problem
This behavior may take place because Microsoft Windows XP cannot install to dynamic disk. MS Windows XP can only install to partition on basic disk or to partition on dynamic disk, which is a boot or system partition.
This limitation is because MBR (Master Boot Record) partition table must present before using simple dynamic disk or member of mirror for installing Windows XP.
Resolution
You can sort out this problem by deleting the dynamic partition. When Windows XP deletes partition on dynamic disk, disk automatically reverts into basic disk. All the dynamic volumes are removed and data loss occurs. Before it removes the partition from dynamic disk, you encounter the below warning message:
The partition you attempted to delete is on a dynamic disk. Deletion of this partition will make all other partitions on this disk unusable.
Do not delete this partition if you need to keep any of the data on any of the partitions on this disk.
If you remove the partition, Windows Data Recovery becomes essential to recover lost partition.
You can easily and quickly recover partition using advanced and powerful third-party applications, known as Partition Recovery Software. Such tools are capable of handling all types of data loss scenarios.
Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery software recovers lost Windows partition in a quick, safe, and absolute way. It works well with Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP, and 2000. The software supports recovery of NTFS5, NTFS, FAT32, VFAT, FAT16, and FAT12 file system partitions.
