You Meet the Coolest People on Capitol Hill

I recently moved from my old haunt in the International District which I had grown to love for it's diversity of food and languages,to a new nieghborhood that is full of diversity on a different scale.

I now live in the Capitol Hill which is a funky mix of college students, punkers, band members, tattooed this and that and a large openly gay population. From fat hairy old men holding hands to adrogenous beings whose sex remains a mystery to me.

Of course the the young college women are a treat to the eye but I have more fun with the luck of the draw type of people I find myself next in the local coffee shop. I don't drink so bars and their inebreated clientel make little sense to me. I can't figure out whether they are happy or sad and you never see a lane change in thinking coming with them.

In the coffee shop I can hardly keep my eyes on what ever little thing I brought to read while enjoying my carmel frappaccino half caf with soy whip and vegan free range sugar, never caged or given hormones. The landscape ranges from the woman with the whole retro thing going on and sporting a newly tatted tummy, the dude with more piercings than I have ever seen. I am not just saying that either. He has those huge disk things in his ears. I am thinking that this is done so people will stare. So I do.

The sign on the door reads, "If your racist, homophobic, or just a plain old asshole, your not welcome here". I like that. Personally I am a raging heterosexual but I don't have an issue with people being what they want to be. Just don't push it on me please. If I find it against my sensibilities I am free to walk away. In my honest opinion if you have to bash a race, religion, lifestyle or whatever it is because it scares you. What is to be afraid of? You think you might secretly be one?

I am pretty sure of who I am. Possibly now more than I have ever been in my life.
