The reality is that you need to visualise success before you can be successful. Clearly visualising the end result of what you want to achieve in your minds eye can have truly motivating effects and get you through the tough times.

How do visualisation techniques work? Visualisation simply means to imagine what it is you want to achieve. Seeing the end result as if it as if it had already happened and imagining what it would feel like when the goal is achieved. Merely mechanically seeing an image in your minds eye is not enough as this will only produce uninspiring effects.

However, accompanying this with feeling and emotion is secret to inspired action. For visualisations to work, they must be active and must involve emotion. For instance, say you wish to have a red luxury sports car, simply just seeing the image in your mind will not suffice. However, try this exercise: imagine your fingers tracing the sleek contours of the car, see the red paint glistening, then imagine getting into the drivers seat, feel the soft tan leather seats underneath you, the new car smell surrounds you, feel the steadiness of the stirring wheel.

Then imagine turning on the ignition, hear the powerful purring of the engine and feel the power of the car as you drive off, then imagine stopping at a traffic light and other drivers looking at you in envy, imagine the smile on your face as you drive off feeling accomplished and successful. Now that is visualisation. By the time you are done, you will be feeling a renewed sense of energy and motivation. This motivation also contributes to you taking inspired daily action until the dream finally becomes reality. It is seeing and feeling what life could potentially be like that fuels purpose, strength and determination.


For visualisations to be successful there are a number of things to bear in mind:


At least twice daily for about 10minutes (advisably first thing in the morning and last thing at night), find somewhere where you cannot be disturbed, relax and close your eyes. Now breathe in and out through your nostrils and concentrate on your breathing. Begin to imagine the goal you desire to achieve as if it has already been achieved. To achieve maximum impact, use color, sound and motion as you visualise the sequence of events unfold. The clearer and more realistic the images running through your imagination the more intense the impact.

When visualising the achievement of an object, see it from two perspectives. For instance if your objective is to lose weight and weigh say 50kg, then imagine how great and more confident you would feel your perspective. Then to make the visualisation experience more intense, then imagine others taking notice of you, paying you compliments and commenting on just how great you look. Feel the emotions. The emotional element is key to any successful visualisation exercise.

Always visualise in the positive. Focus only on the positive outcome you wish to achieve and not on the outcome you wish to avoid. Therefore, instead of affirming and visualising not being broke, rather affirm and visualise being wealthy, having money in the bank and living the life of your dreams
