Tiled rooftops and ceilings are also not uncommon in many parts of the world.Tiles are easy to maintain, needing little upkeep besides general cleaning with soap and water. Some stone tiles may need to be buffered and sanded occasionally to remove surface scratches and digs. Very often placed between tiles to complete joining and provide stability is cement or cocking substances. It is up to the tiler in these more complicated settings to work with the designer or owner and fit the pieces to fulfill the desired design. It is a trade and sometimes an art.
