You Really Should Have A Vegetable Garden In Your Back Yard
Do you use your backyard at all? How much land is idle and not being used
? Wouldn't it be nice to have your own vegetable garden? This is an article about why planting a vegetable garden is wise for your health.
Those who take the time to grow vegetable gardens, often feel that their vegetables taste better than store-bought vegetables. Chances are this claim is true and it doesn't matter what the vegetables were used for. Perhaps they were selected and picked at the best moment or just given more care and attention resulting in better food. If the fresh vegetables are enjoyed by friends and family the reason doesn't really matter at all. As long as you have been doing your garden the organic, natural way, then you know that what is put on your table is free of preservatives and harmful chemicals.
The odds are the vegetables that you buy at the supermarket are full of pesticides, because that is what most growers do anymore. Depending on where you get the vegetables from, it will have been transported a far distance from where they grew. Often, they are picked too early and to keep them from rotting require preservatives. Unfortunately, the value that vegetables are for your body, is taken away, when they are covered with pesticides and preservatives. Developmental and reproductive effects are some nasty side effects if you are exposed to pesticides for a long period of time. Instead of being good for children's health, it may now be bad. Chemicals in an adult aren't nearly as harmful as they are in a child.
Gardening isn't only beneficial for your health when you eat it, but while you are growing your garden. Spending a little bit of time everyday working on your garden will give you welcome weight loss. You will be able to give every muscle group in the body a major workout. It will give your legs a good work out, and also your arms, buttocks, back and other places. When you stretch, whether it's trying to reach a weed or plant something, your flexibility will improve. By the time you begin to see vegetables and crops sprout, your body will be more fit and healthier.
The more people buy, the more the corporations make. Chemicals and preservatives in our food will lessen if a large amount of people chooses not to buy it. If enough people had a big enough garden in their back yard, the need for commercial farming would diminish.
