When I say you could be a car salesman I am talking to anyone that is need of a job that has the potential to make a nice and sometimes a very nice living wage. Forget about the image of the car salesman that you see on TV or in movies because things have changed in the auto industry. The good auto salesperson of today is a professional sales consultant. The auto manufacturers have taken an active role in the car sales training process of the car dealership in order to clean up their image and avoid the tarnished reputation of the past. New car sales people are graded on customer feedback and surveys that can have a big impact on their pay in order to make the process of buying an automobile smoother and less stressful for today's automobile buyer.

The advance in technology that we have today has forced things to change in the business of selling cars. In order to be a car salesman today you must work with and sell to informed customers. The process needs to be more transparent because the car buyer of today can get on the Internet and find out anything they want to know. Slick talking and lying to car buyers is no longer an option. You must be a professional and assist the car buying customer. After all automobiles have become a commodity and the car buyer of today can buy a car anywhere from a dozen of different car dealers that are only a few miles from their home.


If you want to be a car salesman that is successful and earn a six figure income selling cars you must be a professional. You must be knowledgeable about your product, have faith in your product, assist rather pressure your customers and provide a smooth consultative sales approach. Yesterdays high pressure car sales techniques and tactics don't work today. You are dealing with an educated consumer that knows they can buy a car from you or they can buy a car at the dealer down the road.

As you can see, there is more to being a car salesman than being a talker, the professional auto sales person of today is a new breed of salesman or saleswoman, they are intelligent, helpful, and consultative but more importantly a professional. If you are willing to help people buy vehicles, interested in having a career in the auto sales industry and making a nice income then you should be a car salesman.
