You do not just come to JESUS.How then,a person comes to Jesus to become a convert of christianity

Though the lady didn't turn to Jesus that day, the stranger's words lingered in her mind for months afterwards: "If you were to die tonight, do you know where you would go? Did you know Jesus died on a cross to make a way for you to spend eternity in heaven? Would you like to know Him?" The lady didn't want to change her lifestyle. She didn't see how much she needed Jesus.

Many adults are like this lady. They do not see life as temporal as it is. They trust in their own goodness and do not realize their goodness is as filthy rags. They do not see that there is nothing they can do to be good enough to live in the presence of a holy righteous God. They do not realize that they are separated from God because of the sin in their lives. And even when confronted with the truth, they are not willing to humble themselves and recognize they do not have all the answers, that someone else may know something they do not.

As I think about this lady, I recall the words of Jesus when His disciples asked, "Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" Jesus "called a little child to Himself and put him in the midst of them and said, Truly I say unto you, unless you repent (turn) and become like little children, you can never enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:1-3

The lady on the hillside debated. She was stubborn, self-reliant, and proud. She may not have thought she was greater than God, but she was nothing like a little child. Little children come willingly when beckoned. They do not depend on themselves. They want to know more about promises and good things. They are trusting. They respond eagerly to lovejust as they run quickly to the door when someone knocks. They want to know who is on the other side. They trustingly open the door to whomever is there. Jesus stands at the door of our hearts and says:

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me." Revelation 3:20

Jesus wants to spend time with us. He wants to feed us and fill us and satisfy our every need. He wants to take away the guilt we have, the fear, the confusion. He wants us to know Him in all His fullness. He wants to reconcile us to the Father in Heaven. If only we become like little children.

PRAYER: Lord, give us the heart of a child. Let us put aside our self-sufficiency. Let us hear and heed Your voice in all areas of our lives. Come, Lord, and sup with us. Amen.
