Nowadays, old people are always saying that the young are not what they were. In their minds the young generation especially the 80's are selfish, irresponsible and hopeless. Time Magazine even called this generation the "Me Generation". While as an unquestionable member of 80's, I absolutely disagree with this point.

To begin with, young generation is energetic and vigorous. They will become the main force of China. Most of them have received formal education in universities or colleges, where they acquired abundant knowledge which can offer them bright prospects. Look around us, you will find many elites are 80's, like Li Xiang, Hanhan, they show their abilities in the society. The young generation will be the hope of China.

Next the young people are more open-minded than old people. Because they were born during the time Chinese national economy was running at a high speed. Lots information, home or abroad, shocked them. So they have more opportunities and challenges than the old people before. This generation grows up more quickly and is notso dependent on their parents. Furthermore, they are easily to adopt new things and adapt themselves to the changeable world. For instance, today's China, most 80's had abroad study experiences, their rich knowledge does fit in with the development of the current society. If we trace back 10 years, people at that time definitely can not image this phenomena.

Then some people consider the young generation is a group of people, who think more for themselves instead of considering others. It is the generation of selfish and self-centered. But I want to say, do those people really understand this young generation? Though these young people's living conditions are better than their elders', their competition for the job is severer than ever before. Under this circumstance, young people still have to support themselves and families, because they know they have the responsibility to hold their family.

To sum up, the young generation is still the hopeful generation in China, and they can take responsibility to themselves. Old people should offer young adults opportunities to practice their abilities and talents. At the same time, young people should learn from old ones modestly and make them more admirable. Although the trend of young generation shouldering their responsibility eventually is irreversible, they should first learn to be respectful and co-operative.
