Being with someone who is carrying a concealed weapon who has gone through the training has the chance to make others feel safe knowing that they have a firearm and they know how to use it. There are some people who are even thinking that it would be a good idea to have school teachers undergo the training as well.

There is still a fine line that is walked with those who think that guns dont kill people, people kill people and those that think that guns do the job. With the increase lately in violent crimes all over the country in all kinds of areas from city streets to small country schools, many people are taking a second look at the gun laws that we have. Legislators seem to be convinced that preventing citizens from carrying firearms will prevent catastrophes like Virginia Tech and Columbine, and the truth that many others are seeing is that perhaps a lack of concealed weapons training is what is really the problem. Their argument is that when some student takes over a school (for example), there is no one within close range that is there to combat the terrorist because no one is allowed to carry firearms. Many people are arguing that if we allowed qualified individuals to carry concealed weapons and undergo the training, they would possibly deter students (in this example) from opening fire on classmates just as that has happened in the past. Many people feel that it would be extremely intimidating for a potential gunman to know that an attempt to draw a firearm would result in his or her immediate takedown.

However, opposition states that anyone who is going to go as far as pulling out a firearm on peers will not consider any ramifications of his or her actions anyway, and that adding people who have gone through concealed weapons training will do nothing more than increase the number of weapons in the schools and in other public areas.
