Condition

A new Jeep is always going to get better gas mileage than a well used one, though this can certainly be said for any model of vehicle. Take a close look at the condition of your vehicle and see if there is anything that can be done mechanically to improve your mileage. An oil change, a filter swap, and even better tires can all affect how far you get on a single tank. If you suspect it just needs some TLC, take it to your favorite mechanic for a tune up. Steady Speeds

Why do cars get better mileage on the highway than they do in the city? It's not because driving faster uses less gas (the opposite is true, actually), but because a great deal of gas is used to get the car up to speed. People think this is a no-win situation. Turn off the A/C to save on gas and you have to open the windows. The blowing wind kills your forward movement, thus canceling out the benefits. It's not true. While a top down or an open window will have some effect on your gas mileage, it's nothing compared to the air conditioning. Turn it off if you want to save money.
