This site, with more than seven decades of existence, breaks the mold of traditional aesthetics and is located outdoors in a wooded area.
The glamorous cabaret was built in 1939 on the former grounds of the farm Villa Mina, in the town of Marianao in the Cuban capital. In 1940 adopted the current name when the choreographer and show director Sergio Orta suggested it, inspired by the melody of the same name of the composer and flutist Alfredo Brito, premiered and performed at the same place.
In this fabulous site, symbol of nights in Havana, an entrepreneur created a sort of night club-style restaurant, designed for 300 people. The place is equipped with game rooms, and became one of the most popular casinos in the Americas.
During the Republican era, Tropicana was characterized by gambling, drink and nearly naked women. It was attended by politicians, gangsters, Hollywood stars and American sailors. In its evening shows were mixed different musical genres and artistic disciplines such as ballet, circus, carnival, bolero, and cha cha.
In such scenarios have performed uncountable cabaret famous Cuban stars as well as other international like Josephine Baker, Bola de Nieve, Elena Burke, Libertad Lamarque, Cheo Feliciano, Nat King Cole, Rita Montaner, Tongolele, Xavier Cugat, Los Chavales de Espaa, Carmen Miranda, Liberace, Pedro Vargas, Norma Duval, Alejandra Guzman and Rosita Fornes.
From then until the present, the Tropicana shows have been acclaimed throughout the world and renowned for their scenic quality. The cabaret was honored in 1992 by the American Academy of Restaurant Industry with the coveted award Best of the Best Five Star Diamond.
Tropicana has several recreation halls and restaurants. Under the Stars is the most known and visited hall. This facility is an open terrace, surrounded by lush tropical forest, where every night is great and unique for your
holidays to Cuba. Arcos de Cristal Hall reproduces the atmosphere of the Cuban countryside at night. There the cabaret offers its shows on rainy days with a high comfort. In addition, this room is ideal for holding conventions, press conferences, fashion shows, concerts and dances.
Other recreation option available in Tropicana is The Gardens Restaurant. The really lovely atmosphere offered there is favored by the strains of violins and the piano. This combines beautifully with the effect of moonlight filtering through the glass roof, plus the comprehensive view of the surrounding park.

The Rodney Brown is a bohemian corner that immediately captivates visitors. This installation offers a varied gastronomic service with attractive prices, and is open from noon to 12.00 am.
