While epilation is very effective, it can also be very painful and will have to be repeated every couple of weeks. Epilation can also cause ingrown hairs when the device doesnt rip the entire hair out.
Hair removal cream could also be counted in the same category because it causes the hair to fall out from the root while still leaving the hair follicle open. Depending on the person, you will experience hair regrowth in 3 -7 days. Hair removal creams cause your hair to fall out painlessly, but can cause irritation and redness on sensitive skin.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal and intense pulsed light are both light based methods of removing hair. Laser hair removal is unique because it can actually offer permanent results which is why it is the option chosen by professionals as the best way to remove unwanted hair permantly.
Laser hair removal involves using pulses or steady beams of light to disable the hair. After multiple treatments, this can result in permanent hair loss or a hair free area that only requires mild maintenance.
You can choose to go to a laser hair removal clinic or purchase a home hair removal laser that you can use on your own. Usually either method will require at least 6 treatments of the area you would like to be hair free. Depending on the person and the power setting used on the treatment, laser hair removal can last anywhere from a few months to decades.
How Exfoliation Works
Another, less popular, method of hair removal is exfoliation. This involves using an exfoliating paper to gently buff hair away from your body. Exfoliation tends to remove hair from large areas such as your arms and legs but isnt suitable for the face or bikini line because it can very easily damage your skin. Its important to use lotion after exfoliating unwanted hair away because your skin can redden because of the friction.
The major benefit of using exfoliation is that it closes the pore a tiny bit each time you use it. Over a period of regular use spanning 6 months to a year, you could see reduction in the size of your hair.
For permanent hair loss, a home hair removal laser is still your best option. Its more affordable than a laser removal clinic and will still give you the benefit of permanent or semi-permanent hair removal.
