Young age is most vulnerable to changes. Young people want freedom of thoughts and power of decision making. Due to a big decision taken in young age, the whole life of a person can change in a good way or otherwise. There are many pressures on the mind of the young ones like deciding a career, relationship issues, family responsibilities, etc. With such an immense competition increasing in every field of study and changing family dynamics, a youthful mind can get into a situation of trauma.

The youth covers people belonging to a wide age group from early teens to people about to step into adulthood. So the problems faced by them also have a wide variety. Before enrolling to youth counseling courses, you should analyze certain things like:

1 You should have an empathetic attitude towards the young people. You should have a personal interest in the course to pursue it as a career

2 You are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria for it, however, it is not a very strict criteria

3 These courses can take a few months of your time including the basics learning, practical analysis and case study. You should be available during the whole course as skipping some of its part may make you ineligible for getting a certificate for it.

4 These courses are available as personal and online courses. So taking care of all the pros and cons of both the mediums of the course, select the most suitable one.

5 Definitely consider the cost of pursuing these courses and ensure that there are no hidden costs of the course material or anything which can be demanded from you later.

The first step that you should take as a counselor is to understand the problem. Some common youth problems are family disputes, deficient performance in studies, parental pressures, drug addiction, child abuse, social influences, etc. After finding out the problem, you have to go to the root cause of the problem. Then suggest the different ways by which the problem can be solved.
