Zoloft Lawsuits Imply That Antidepressants May Cause Harm
Ones lifestyle can contribute to depression, according to a recent study published
in the American Journal of Epidemiology This US Nurses Health Study claims that those who watch too much television and do not have enough exercise are more likely to be diagnosed with depression.
Higher levels of physical activity were associated with lower depression risk, says study author Michel Lucas of the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston.
In theory, physical activities are compromised because peoples time is spent watching television.
Previous studies have suggested that physical activity is associated with a lower risk of depressive symptoms. The finding adds to the growing body of evidence that physical activity is important to maintain brain health, Gillian Mead, a geriatric medicine specialist at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in Scotland, says in her comments on the study.
To determine if physical activity can relieve depression symptoms in place of medication, such as antidepressant drug Zoloft; patients are advised by medical researchers to seek medical advice from mental health specialists.
Safer Treatment for Depression Should be Sought by Patients
The treatment for depression includes antidepressant intake and talk therapy. In general, antidepressant drugs are supposed to reduce extreme sadness, hopelessness and lack of enthusiasm in life that are classic in people suffering from depression.
Yet antidepressants like Zoloft, which is supposed to cure depression, instead increases the risk of suicide attempts according to clinical findings. Additionally, based on the clinical procedures, including reports from patients, Zoloft has been blamed for seriously harmful side effects and withdrawal symptoms. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has already released different cautions regarding Zoloft intake.
Litigation Against Zoloft Manufacturer
Pfizer is the manufacturer of the antidepressant Zoloft, brand name for setraline. According to media reports, Zoloft instantly became one of the largest-selling antidepressant drugs when it was released in the global market.
Presently, patients affected by the drug have already been pursuing Zoloft lawsuit against Pfizer. Reports of the complainants contain these side effects: birth defects to newborns, physical pain, sexual dysfunction, psychosis, delusion, hallucination, memory loss, sleeping problems, eating disorders, abnormal personality changes, unusual mood shifts, irritability, hostility, self-harm and other acts of violence. To those taking antidepressant drugs, it is safe for them to consider that several the lawsuits filed against its manufacturer implies that antidepressant drugs may not be the best way to deal with their problems. Medical professionals may offer safer alternatives instead of antidepressant drugs.
