Zsa Zsa Gabor Still Doesn't Know She Has Lost Her Leg

The 93-year-old Hungarian-born actress underwent above-the-knee amputation on Fiday

after doctors at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles were unable to contain an infection stemming from hip replacement surgery she underwent last July.

Gabor was rushed to the medical facility on Sunday, Jan. 2, after doctors found that cancerous lesions started appearing on her right leg that they worried could cost her life.

They then advised Gabor's husband Prince Van Von Anhalt to get the ailing actress hospitalized and undergo surgery to have part of her right leg amputated because gangrene was starting to set in.

On Friday, the stage and screen star, who has been married seven times, had most of her right leg, which was infected with gangrene, successfully amputated in an operation that doctors said was necessary to save her life.

Gossip website TMZ is reporting that Von Anhalt was warned by medical experts not to tell Gabor about the procedure amid fears it could raise her blood pressure and make her recovery from the operation very difficult.

But the ailing actress has no idea that her leg has been amputated, according to online published media reports, citing her husband Frederic Prinz Von Anhalt.

A day after the surgery on Saturday, Von Anhalt revealed his wife is talking and responding well following the surgery.

"She talks to me and she smiles a little bit, the New York Daily News quoted Von Anhalt as saying.

But the star of 1950s movies Moulin Rouge and Lili still does not know doctors have removed part of her leg, said Von Anhalt and John Blanchette, a spokesman for actress.

She was chatty and feisty with me, but I told themc(doctors) not to talk to her, because I didn't want her to get hysterical and the blood pressure goes up."

Hubby didnt tell her about the surgery

Gossip website TMZ is reporting that Von Anhalt was warned by medical experts not to tell Gabor about the procedure amid fears it could raise her blood pressure and make her recovery from the operation very difficult.

Von Anhalt however said he will eventually tell his wife in the coming days that she has lost the limb from above the knee.

He added that Gabor is on morphine to take away the pain, and that recovery in hospital could take up to four weeks.
