"Humanization of Sexuality" is cure for AIDS - Says the Pope Benedict XVI - What Do You Think

The Roman Catholic Church has always been "at war" against artificial contraception, condoms also. However, Pope Benedict XVI states in a new book:

"There could be single cases that can be justified, for instance when a prostitute uses a condom, and this can be a first step towards a moralization, a first assumption of responsibility, to develop again the awareness of the fact that not all is allowed and that one cannot do everything one wants,"

He then added:

"However, this is not the true and proper way to defeat the infection of HIV, the humanization of sexuality is the right way to do it"

I didn't have a clue what the pope Benedict XVI meant by that sentence, "humanization of sexuality, so I had to look it up. I found a book called "Encyclopedia of theology: a concise Sacramentum mundi" by Karl Rahner. There's a definition of de-humanization in that book which enlightened those three words for me. After reading about the subject, I suppose the pope believes that only real way for defeating the HIV infection from spreading, is to only have sex with the person you love or think you love, with the purpose of reproduction, maintaining high values while processing. Any deviation of this, like having sex only for enjoyment and pleasure, will be de-humanization of sexuality, resulting more HIV infections.

I'm not saying that body-spirit unity through sex cannot be obtained, quite the opposite,

it can be, and should be one of the top goals of every individual! It just doesn't seem to

happen that often, and while I think that the pope is right about he's statement; that if

everybody just had sex "within humanized limits", HIV probably would eventually fade away.

However, without complete shift of consciousness, or state of being altogether, I don't see

pope's suggestion as a very realistic way to approach for resolving AIDS problem. I think

it's a naive statement. Living here on an over populated planet, I've got very hard time to

understand what is the problem in covering your penis with a piece of latex, to avoid

sexual diseases like HIV. Reproduction is the second strongest of our basic instincts right after survival, so it is highly unlikely that vast majority of people will change their ways in near future.

I think the best way to face any challenge is to take full responsibility of your life. That being said, in my case it includes having a few condoms in my wallet at all times.
