Crystal Bowersox is the runner-up of the ninth season of American Idol.was born on August 4, 1985 in Elliston, OH. She began playing music at ten years old, while growing up in her family's farm. She usually plays the guitar and harmonica, but also learned playing the piano as a child.Before joining the show, she performed in several train stations. She is currently a single mom, raising her son while pursuing a music career. She also suffers from diabetes, the reason for her sudden hospitalization during Top 20 week, resulting in a last-minute schedule switch between the girls and the guys.
