Understanding Student Culture: Deceptive Conceptions Student life and culture is rich in negative stigmas and stereotypes. There are a lot of ideas that do not fit this sphere of social life. To shatter the myths, it is necessary to define which stereotypes are evidence-based and which ones are based on false assumptions. For example, conventionalism and clichés are present when discussing the first years of study. Some of them are true. For instance, students often anticipate some adventures and challenges when meeting new people. Let us discuss the college environment and students' concerns in more detail.Myth #1 The first year of study is a real challenge for studentsIt is true but partially. The educational policy has already predicted these problems and has worked out some effective psychological devices to lessen the pressure on students' emotional and psychological state.Myth #2 The process of study is based primarily on the independent researchOnce again, this matters only in senior years of study when students are competent enough to conduct their own scientific investigations. Culture cultures you can flcik through When I was looking at interesting apps one day, the description of this one caught my attention. If you've ever wondered about certain interesting facts about countries (for me this was a "yes") you have been to or want to visit? When you visit new countries, it's good to know things like what to avoid, how to politely say "hello", and if your in an area where you need to tip. It's also good to have an understanding of the countries laws. This is what the Cultures app achieves.InterfaceThe Cultures App follows the Apple UI but isn't that great when talking about its aesthetics. The display of the content is a little annoying. When you pick the culture and country you are interested in, a screen pops up in a box with a fitted text which is partially transparent on something that looks exactly like the background. All of this and the image is disappointingly put on top of a world image. If they would have stayed with the UI guidelines, it would look much better and be much easier to read. Here is a link to the App StoreOne more change I would like to see is the "More" tab. The usual "More" button would produce a bunch of other items that...more
