Guide to London's Period Properties and Their History

Guide to London's Period Properties and Their History London is an ancient city and its buildings reflect its history and growth. By looking at London's buildings, you can see which parts of the city were prosperous at which times. Although there was a time when the period features of some of London's properties were discarded in favour of new, modern designs and fittings, homeowners are now trying to keep as much character in their homes as possible, and, in London, sash windows are a hallmark of character.Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian sash windowsLondon buildings from the Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian periods are often graced with sash windows. The fashion for sash windows in London buildings followed the installation of sash windows in Royal households, such as Hampton Court.
