Also known as a fixed window, single hung windows as the most basic type there is: just a pane of glass that doesn't move. The first step is to use a reciprocating saw to cut the opening for the window. Be sure to check the wall for any electrical lines or conduits before cutting. Also, cut the hole from half an inch to three-quarters of an inch too big; this will give you room for adjustments.Lift the window into position and check that it fits correctly, and then put it aside.
