. That being said, hardwood is not a cheap kind of flooring. It is one of the most expensive floorings out there in the market. People sometimes hesitate that they might go over their budget.

MEASURE. First you have to get the floor area of the room where you plan to install hardwood. Measure the length and width. Then you just have to multiply these values with each other. Measurement is very important so make sure you have the correct numbers.
TYPE OF FLOORING. There are three different kinds of hardwood flooring. You have to decide on what kind you would want to use. Solid hardwood is the best of all hardwood. TYPE OF FINISH. Determine the type of finishing you want for your hardwood floor. There are many different kinds and you can ask assistance from a flooring company about this. Once you have chosen the type of finish, inquire about the cost for each square foot.
MATERIAL COST. In this step, you need to determine the total material cost. Get the 10% of the square footage you took for your floor area and add the 10% to it. Then multiply the value to the cost per square foot for the materials. The product would will your total material cost.
PREPARATION OF SUBFLOOR COST. You could not just directly apply hardwood floor in your room. Check the subfloor. If you already have a plywood subfloor, lucky you because you do not need to worry about anything. Skip this step. However, if you have concrete subfloor, you still have to prepare it. You need about 5/8 inch plywood to cover the subfloor. Remember you area square footage and use this to determine the amount of sheets you need. Visit a store to inquire the cost for each sheet and multiply it with the number of sheets you need.
If your hardwood flooring does not come with an attached insulation or padding, you must inquire the cost of each sheet on the local store and add this to the cost as well.
EQUIPMENT RENTALS. The equipments you will need are several gallons of floor adhesive or glue and a few notched trowels. If you prefer the solid hardwood kind, you may also need a floor nailer. You can rent all these things.
