The screen repair/replacement is a difficult repair to make on an iPhone. If you're going to try doing this yourself, here

are some important things that need consideration; These instructions describe how to replace both the LCD screen and the

glass digitizer, the repair takes about an 1 hours to complete, and this repair will make your warranty null and void.

The first thing you have to do is order the replacement LCD screen and the front digitizer/glass. Take the SIM card tray out

of the iPhone by removing the two screws that are located on the bottom of the phone. With the help of a suction cup and the

tool that is used to pry the case remove the face from the iPhone. Remove the glass panel that is located on the inside of

the metal frame along with the internal bracket that holds it in place and the LCD screen.

Next, unhook cables in order 1, 2 and 3. Cables 1 and 2 come out easily, but for cable 3 you'll have to slide it out after

flipping up the white clamp that is holding the cable in place. You can set the back of the iPhone aside for now.

Take out the bracket screws that are holding the LCD screen and the glass digitizer together. Slide the LCD screen's bracket

all the way down when you separate it since there's a bracket that holds it on the top right.

Next, it is time to replace the actual LCD screen. Use a paperclip to separate the bracket from the screen then just pop it

off. Attach the new screen to the bracket. The new screen is now ready to be reattached to the digitizer bracket.

Use a hairdryer to heat and loosen the glass on the front of your phone. It should be loose enough pry out. Attach the frame

using the adhesive template after you have ensured that it is clean. Once in place, take off the adhesive backing and press

the new digitizer firmly into place.

The last step is to reassemble. You should now be able to put all of your pieces back together the same way that you took

them apart. Put the SIM card back in and your iPhone should be as good as new.

This repair should only cost you a little over $40 while Apple is charging people almost $249 for.
