iTrail GPS Logger Review

As a concerned parent, a gps device like the iTrail GPS Logger has many uses at home or work

. Our review will show you the good, the bad, and the ugly about GPS loggers.

You can see the route a vehicle takes with a GPS Logger, including the vehicle speed, and how long they stayed at each stop, after the fact. Unlike a GPS Vehicle tracker, that shows the location in real time, you must get the logger from the vehicle, and connect it to your PC with a USB cable.

Some of the benefits of of a GPS Logger are no additional fees. Once you install a gps logger, you pay no more fees, excluding a water proof case, which allows you to attach it to the underside of any vehicle. Unlike a GPS Tracker, which will require a monthly subscription, like a mobile phone, and that can average $50 a month. If it's important you know exactly where a vehicle is, say for critical deliveries, a GPS tracker is what you need. If it's not important to know the minute-by-minute movement of a vehicle, and you can wait until it comes back, a Logger can end up saving you hundreds of dollars a year.

GPS satellites determine the position of the iTrail. Route information is stored in memory until you upload to your computer. When you are ready to view the route the vehicle took, just connect it to your computer, and and view on the included free software.

Integrating with Google Maps, the included software will show the route the vehicle took on a 3D map. Each stop is tagged, so you can see exactly where the person went.

The iTrail is easy to use and set-up. After you charge up the iTrail, just set it outside so the GPS satellites can find it.

Place it inside the vehicle, or if you have a water proof case, you can attach it to the outside of the vehicle. Remove the tracker and connect it to your computer when you are ready to upload.

Start the free sotfware, and after you upload the data, you can see every stop the vehicle made.

GPS Loggers are great for homeowners to monitor family members, so a spouse is not in the wrong part of town.

The pro's and con's of the iTrail

Pros:

Low price

No hidden monthly fees

Very easy to use

Shows exactly where a vehicle has travelled

Great for recording your vacations

Cons:

As long as you don't need real-time reporting, a device like the iTrail GPS Logger gives you everything you need, for one low price.
