Robert Ripley first displayed his collection at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933, which attracted nearly 2 million visitors. During the 1930's and the 1940's, Robert Ripley would give lectures in concert halls and theatres where people would come to listen and learn. In 1948, Ripley created a television pilot based on one of his radio shows. Due to the success of the pilot, it quickly expanded into a television series.
