. Different medical elements in steel lead to different steel performance. The "magic" of some medical elements on steel will be unveiled below:

Carbon affects steel hardness. The more carbon in making materials, the harder the steel will be. On the other hand, the steel will be less plastic accordingly.

Sulfur is the the harmful sundry to steel. Steel rich in sulfur is very likely to get cracked during high temperature processing.

3. Phosphor can reduce plasticity and toughness of steel sharply, especially in low temperature. The proportion of sulfur and phosphor in high-quality steel is always in strict control. On the other hand, low carbon steel that is rich in sulfur and phosphor tends to be cut off easier.

4. Manganese can improve steel intensity and weaken the unfavorable influence of sulfur. Moreover, alloy steel rich in manganese has good abrasion resistance and other physical properties.

Silicon can strengthen the hardness of the steel, but reduce the steel plasticity and toughness accordingly. Steel tools for electricians contain some amount of silicon which can improve soft magnetic properties.

6. Tungsten can improve steel red hardness and epistasis as well as abrasion resistance.

7. Chromium can not only improve quench-hardening ability and abrasion resistance of steel, but also strengthen steel the corrosion resistance and antioxidant effect.

8. Vanadium can refine the grain structure of steel and improve steel intensity, tenacity and abrasion resistance. When it melts into the austenitic steel in high temperature, it can increase quench-hardening ability of steel; on the other hand, when it is in the carbide form , it will reduce quench-hardening ability of steel.

Nickel can also steel intensity, tenacity and its quench-hardening ability. If it is rich in the composition of steel, it can change some physical properties of steel and steel alloy, improving steel corrosion resistance.
