Since the day UK House of Commons have announced to stop funding for homeopathy it seems now homeopathy is gaining more popularity and is more becoming a household name.
The matter is simple. They (House of Commons) did not find the material existence of the drug substance in the medicine. Hence they concluded that there is nothing in homeopathy which can cure a disease. The fact is that the ultra-diluted drug substance serves as medicine in homeopathy.
How the ultra-dilution cures?
As per Hahnemann (founder of homeopathy) this all happens dynamically. The dynamic word can be understood as something invisible but only can be experienced or felt'. The medicine substance when undergo ultra-dilution it develops dynamic curative property. Such ultra-dilution similar medicine when consumed for a certain disease it removes the disease.
How to believe something which is not visible?
You give a slap to someone. If he complaints then say, "Nothing is visible on your cheek. How can you say that I've beaten you"? Similarly many phenomena like electricity, psychotherapy, and hypnotism, astrological forecasting, working of astrological tools (yantras), pranic healing, reiki etc. happens in an invisible plane. If homeopathy is a matter of controversy then all these should also be discarded similarly.
At present in India more than 1,00,000(one lakh) homeopathy doctors are practicing. Over 150(one hundred and fifty) homeopathic medical colleges are present in India alone. The CCRH (Central Council for Research in Homeopathy) is the highest authority of Homeopathy in India being established on30th March 1978.The CCRH is actively doing research in the following areas.
1. Survey, collection, cultivation of medicinal plants- CCRH has a unit in Nilgiri of Tamilnadu called SMPCU (SURVEY OF MEDICINAL PLANTS AND COLLECTION UNIT)
2. Drug standardization and proving-This task is delegated to homeopathic pharmacopeia committee working under CCRH.
3. Clinical verification and research-It formulates protocols in conformity with the guidelines of WHO. In addition to symptom verification it also measures QOL (Quality of life) of the patient. So far 52 medicines have been clinically verified and that of 34 drugs is in progress.
4. Epidemic management-CCRH ha s taken steps for controlling chikungunia in kerala,India in 2007.
5. Collaborative research-In order to prove the efficiency of evidence based homeopathy treatment CCRH has tied up with 19 prestigious institutes like JIPMER (Jawaharlalinstitute of postgraduate medical education and research),puducherry;BARC, Trombey; University of Madras ,Chennai etc.
6. Extra-mural research-The very famous scheme of AYUSH includes Homeopathy. CCRH has completed 24 projects related to homeopathy in AYUSH as of now since 2006.CCRH has international collaboration for research on homeopathy with the organizations like University of California, Los angeles, USA to conduct a survey on Role of traditional medicine practitioners in prevention of HIV infection'.
7. Documentation and dissemination Time to time CCRH publishes its activity in the form of books etc.
WHO has declared homeopathy as the second popular therapy in the world.
My CONCLUSION-
Every body has seen apple is falling but why for it is falling nobody knew. Only after Sir Isaac Newton's invention of gravitational force the fact came to light. Similarly atom was considered as the smallest unit of a matter until the proton; neutron and electrons were not discovered. Here I agree with the writing of yahoo columnist on 3rd june2010 in the article homeopathy' where he opines that the modern science has not advanced that much to explain the power of ultra-dilution homeopathic medicine scientifically. Dr Farokh j master (chief-editor,Homeo Heritage Jain publisher) IN June 2010 issue of Homeo Heritage gives a big list of various eminent personalities of the world who take Homeopathy; including all the six popes of Roman catholic church, mahatma Gandhi to J.R.D TATA.
However any body who ever has been cured by homeopathy for any of the illnesses would neither agree with this nor will give up homeopathy.
The UK's decision was autocratic but not democratic. Or else they should have thought of funding more for getting the evidence behind the homeopathic cure by doing more R&D. Thank God! India is a blessed country.
