subject: Priest Leveling Guide For The First Ten Levels [print this page]

The Priests are considered the main healers of any group, although they too can deal pretty impressive damage when they chose to. They perform much better in large groups, though, since their talents are geared for such large battles. Priests also perform well in soloing since they are capable of leveling really fast. If you're a priest and want to know how to get done with the initial levels of the game really fast, this is the Priest leveling guide for you.

{Who are the Priests}?

The Priests, although not hybrids, can fill in a variety of roles in groups although their main role is healing. Priests are also capable of massive damage via the Shadow talent tree, tanking and of course, healing. If you're a Priest seeking to go deep into the Holy Priest tree, you will become very capable of casting pretty solid multiple target heals. Alternatively, you also have at your disposal the best single target heals via the Discipline Priest talent tree.

{Early Leveling}

All Priests start with Smite (a ranged attack) and Lesser Heal (a healing spell) in their starting town. As you progress through the first 3 levels of the game, you will be able to earn enough money to buy yourself your first buff, the Power Word: Fortitude, which you can use to make some friendly gestures with your fellow starters. You're on your route to becoming quite a popular player.

At levels four to five, you will learn how to use the Shadow Word: Pain, which is basically your first DoT (Damage Over Time) spell. You will then be given sufficient time to practice your new DoT or Damage Over Time spell. Then in the next two levels, you will gain access to a new spell the Power Word: Shield.

At levels eight to nine, you will have another DoT spell, Renew, and aggro-management spell, called Fade. Fade will come in very handy once you start raiding with parties as this could help a ton with aggro management. This is especially useful if there's a threat coming from a fellow priest from another group. At level ten, you will have your first powerful ranged attack spell called the Mind Blast and your first resurrection spell, called Resurrection.

{From Level Ten Onwards}

You will accumulate your first talent point at level ten.

You could use this point immediately or keep it for a while until you have found a good build for your Priest.

As a Priest, you can choose between three different talent trees Discipline, Shadow,, and Holy. These individual trees lead to individual specializations.

You can go the Holy Priest path if you're seeking to be a healer. This tree gives you some of the best healing spells, buffs and debuffs in the game. If you're seeking to create a Priest that has very high DPS, you can go deep into the Shadow talent tree. For single-target healing with impressive list of talents for buffs and mana regeneration, you can choose to roll a Discipline Priest.

{Final Words and Recommendations}

The choice of talent tree is really up to you. Although if you want to go with one of the gods of leveling, this Priest leveling guide suggests that you try going first with Shadow Priest.
