subject: Singapore On A High The Tiger Sky Tower [print this page] Ever wondered how Singapore city would look like from up above? Well heres a unique chance to see the many wonders of Singapore City from atop one of the tallest towers in Sentosa Island, Singapore.
The Tiger Sky Tower which is located in the Imbiah Look Out Zone is in the centre of Sentosa Island and can be reached by cable car, Luge Chair Lift or by bus.
This Tower which was also known as the Carlsberg Sky Tower was born as a result of one of the biggest business partnerships between two of the world acclaimed local brand names in Singapore - Tiger Beer, the flagship brew of Asia Pacific Breweries, Singapore (APBS), and leisure destination, Sentosa. The Tower took the Germany construction company, HUSS Maschinenfabrik of Bremen six months to design and only 12 weeks to complete. Melchers Project Management Pte Ltd. manages this tower in co-operation with its owners, Sentosa Leisure Group (SLG). The symbolic tiger logo of the Tiger Beer adorns the tower and base of the observation cabin in the tower and lights up at night.
This air-conditioned observation cabin in which the visitors enter this tower at ground level, has glass windows and revolves around from the base of the structure and ascends to the column of the tower. The cabin stands at an alluring 110 metres high and is 131 metres above sea level. It has about 36 floors and the cabin can hold up to more than 72 persons at one time.
It is equipped to hold dozens of visitors at a time and more than 2 million visitors visit the tower every year since the towers opened its doors to the public in 7th February, 2004, according to Mr. Ko Eng Wee, General Manager of Leisure Business, Sentosa Leisure Group.
The tower is an attraction which is suitable for visitors all ages and is open daily from 9 am to 9 pm and whether night or day, visitors will be able to admire panoramic views of the island during the day and the magic of the city lights of Singapore, by night. You will also be able to view the famous Resorts World at Sentosa, one of Singapores integrated resorts. If you are lucky enough, you will be able to even see parts of Indonesia and Malaysia as well.
