subject: Can Anyone Decelerate Aging? [print this page]

Everyone experiences agingEveryone experiences aging. But somehow it is still a mysterious phenomenon that no one can understand completely. Aging refers to the multiple processes that contribute to health deterioration over time, so it's far from just one event.

Perhaps the best way to understand this term is through analogy. Living creature does have a shelf life, just like all organic substances. Over time, the organ function declines. That includes the whole body systems. Like food, it may go bad. Chocolate syrup, if packaged in a bottle, remains fresh for up to two years if leaved unopened. But if you store it under extreme conditions beyond its recommendation, its shelf life will be reduced. However, no matter what you do, there is no way to prevent changes in taste and texture as time goes by. Why?

Foods can exist as long as certain conditions are met. Human body is no different. With an exception though. Beyond its shelf life, food composition will change. Without protected in its storage, it can quickly deteriorate before the expiration date is over.

Human body, in theory, can endure over 100 years of life. However, the genes, environmental influences and lifestyle can seriously modify life expectancy of a human being. Nowadays, on average life expectancy of human being averages around 75 years. Higher life expectancy is possible with healthier lifestyle and living environment, access to medical care and food that you consume.

There are also internal factors. Gene factors passed down by generations of family history also determine the aging rate. How fast people age varies from one person to another. Hereditary traits play a crucial role in that.

Around the age of 30, aging process begins to take place. Hereditary traits, which are determined by specific genes, begin to develop as the body's preparation is reduced. As immune system starts to deteriorate, disorders may appear and develop promptly.

Once the body stops developing, the aging process will start. As time goes by, the rate will increase exponentially. Aging in human refers to multidimensional process of physical, psychological and social change.

Effects of aging are common in every human being, although the speed of aging may be different. There is little you can do with the process itself, but at least you can preserve your body by identifying and tackling the specific issue.
