subject: Europe's Best Theme Parks [print this page] While Orlando in Florida may have established itself as the world's theme park capital, that doesn't mean thrill-seekers in Europe need to feel left out of the action, especially as some of the world's best family days out can be found across the continent.
For fun in the sun, families looking for wet and wild action can head to Siam Park in Tenerife, which proudly boasts of being Europe's biggest water park. As well as providing plenty of opportunities to swim and relax by the beach sipping cocktails, the park has all the high-octane rides young guests will be expecting, including the terrifying Tower of Power ride which culminates in a 92 foot (28 metre) drop into a pool surrounded by alligators.
A more traditional, but by no means less exciting day out can be had by all at Disneyland Resort Paris. Formerly Euro Disney, the once-derided park has long overcome its teething troubles to become one of the premier family destinations in the Paris area, featuring big-budget rides such as the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror that will stun attendees with its fabulous special effects.
It's not all about white-knuckle thrills, of course, and younger visitors can also enjoy a great day out by heading to Legoland Denmark. Even if you've been to Legoland Windsor, you'll still find plenty of new experiences at Billund, the original and best park, home to more pirate-themed attractions and play areas than you can wave a cutlass at.
From something old to something new and improved, Walibi in Belgium hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons when its innovative ride Vertigo - a cross between a rollercoaster and a ski lift - broke down during early tests. But the ride is now up and running, helping put this Belgian park on the map for family holidays in Europe.
Europe's biggest country shouldn't be overlooked in the theme park stakes either, and Germany more than holds its own with destinations such as Europa-Park. With as many high-speed rides to entertain motor-loving dads as their kids, Europa-Park is a great day out for all the family, that's sure to see many eager visitors taking advantage of cheap Germany calls to find the best deals on family tickets.
Never one to be outdone, England has its fair share of great theme parks too, wherever you're heading in the country - from Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures in the south to Alton Towers and Camelot in the north.
