subject: Adaptable Office Lighting Online [print this page]

In a business environment such as a busy office, it may be necessary to have a range of different indoor lights to suit the various areas of any company premises. Office space should always be well lit with plenty of indoor lights, and the bulbs and fittings chosen should provide an even light across all working areas.

Poor lighting can often cause problems for staff such as headaches and eye strain, so a clear source of light is essential. Depending on the nature of business conducted, it may be appropriate to have more localised indoor lights for each desk or in a certain area. This can be achieved by using desk lamps, and also by purchasing free standing lights that can be moved to wherever they are needed.

Moveable lighting is great to use in an office, as it gives staff the chance to create the perfect lighting scheme for their work. Many people like free standing up-lighters, most of which have a smaller spot light attached. Up-lighters are particularly good for creating a gentle and even light, as they bounce their light off the ceiling, creating a diffused effect. Moveable indoor lights are a great way to create a cost effective lighting scheme, as they can be used in many different areas as and when they are needed.

Whilst a couple of different styles of indoor lights may be needed in an office environment, any premises that welcome customers will need to have a range of different lighting to show off various areas of the building. Reception areas should be well lit, and spotlights are great for creating a simple and professional feel. Spotlights which are fitted into the ceiling are easy to keep looking clean and smart, as there are no lampshades or wires which can attract dust and look unsightly. It is also possible to have spotlights installed in a pattern such as a swirl across a large expanse of ceiling, or running down a corridor to lead your guests into the building.

Spotlights are also great for highlighting displays and pictures on the walls. It may be a good idea to purchase individual lights for this purpose, many of which are LED. These have a very low energy output, are discreet to mount on a display case or stand, and can be moved around as and when a display changes. A well lit display of company products, awards, or a large logo on the wall can help to create a strong corporate image and will draw the eye of any visitors.

Displays such as these can also provide a great talking point, and can help to make both visitors and existing staff feel secure in the company's status. In any business, indoor lights should show off the best assets of both the building and the company itself, and should also help staff to work at their highest level. The lighting that you choose should be easy to use and as attractive as possible, with a low energy output to save on electricity bills!
