subject: Semi Flush Light Fixtures And The Eyes [print this page]

When deciding or designing the lighting of a room, a lot depend on the physical architecture of the room itself. Factors like the height of the ceiling, the colors of the walls, the sizes of the windows and the amount of light that comes in, and other things, must all be taken into consideration.

The Bedroom This is my favorite part of the house because this is where I rest and it is a place where I could be myself. I bought a really plain looking semi flush light fixture and used that for my bedroom. I use white bulbs. I also bought crystals of different colors. I tied them in groups and hang them on the fixture.

For rooms that require more lighting such as the kitchen, the living room and the study, I would suggest you use the semi flush light so that you can have the right amount of light. You can use the flush mount on bedrooms since that would not require you to have the lights so bright.

It is never advisable to read in the dark or when the lighting is very poor because of the already mentioned effects. Observe that when you do it far too long, you get headaches. That is the eyes' defense mechanism so that you will not continue forcing it to work too hard. You have to give it ample light if you want to read. As a rule of thumb, you shouldn't squint when you are trying to read and you must be able to recognize the letters immediately. If you are squinting, stop reading and find a place with the right amount of light.

It was a bit pricey but it's worth it especially when I hear the children giggle every morning when they open their eyes to Spiderman's eyes looking at them. Maybe next week, I'll change it to another superhero. You should try this, it makes it easy to make them nap.

The Living Room This is an important part of the house because this is the one place everyone sees. I had to put several semi flush light fixture but instead of putting only one kind, I put different style. I usually buy one kind from some of the counties I've been to. I made sure, of course, that it reflects a part of that country's identity. That made it interesting specially when visitor start asking me where I got those. It became a talk point.
