Primary pulmonary hypertension is a disorder affecting the lungs and which also involves a rise in blood pressure in the pulmonary artery that is often caused because of hereditary reasons or because of other unknown reasons. The disease was first identified more than a century ago and much later in the year 1959 another thirty-nine cases were discovered in the USA which is when the disease also got its name.
