The film tells the true story about a homeless adolescent named Michael Oher who is taken in by a wealthy couple played by McGraw and Bullock, who he told The Boot was "just a very cool, friendly, down-to-earth person." He also added, "For me, she always reminded me of my best friend's little sister." In the film, which opened during Thanksgiving weekend, and in real life, the boy becomes a star athlete thanks to his adopted parents.
McGraw scored another stellar leading lady in Paltrow for his next film, which will be shot in Nashville with a few scenes possibly being filmed on McGraw and Hill's farm outside of Music City. Love Don't Let Me Down features McGraw playing the husband and manager of Paltrow's character, a fallen country singer romantically involved with a rising singer-songwriter played by Garret Hedlund. Coincidentally, Hedlund previously played McGraw's football star son in Friday Night Lights. Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester plays a budding beauty queen in Love Don't Let Me Down, which is reportedly being produced by Maguire Entertainment (co-owned by Spider-Man actor Tobey Maguire).
