The respective play that is "South Pacific," had managed to get off to a great start and had been equally appreciated by the audience and critics. It had been the guild's annual musical that has been a tradition for the past many years. This show has been brought to the Broadway stage by both Rodgers and Hammerstein, and is almost 60 years old. It continues to arise much enthusiasm amongst the audiences and also its performers who are as excited. It has a huge cast plus awesome music.
The story begins with Belleville balladeer named John O'Connor, who is a splendid choice to play the character of the aging French planter named Emile de Becque. It is this character that gets to sing the lovely song titled "Some Enchanted Evening." As for the main female character that is of the Nurse Nellie Forbush, it has been played by the talented Sherri Tipper who is simply spectacular in this role. She has a clear and a ringing voice. We have our fingers crossed that she will be seen sometime in the near future in some other musical production. Joseph Pockaj plays the role of the comedic and the mischievous Luther Billis to perfection. The play has been directed by David Kidd who has done a splendid job.
